This is a typical annual outings schedule for the club. Exact dates are selected by the trip leader based on the best fishing opportunities as well as weather and water conditions. We welcome beginning fly fishers to join us on outings. You will find our experienced fishers generous mentors. There is no better way to learn the craft of fly fishing than to fish with us on the water.

YEAR ROUND Pacific OceanVarious beaches in SLO and northern SB counties depending on conditions. Target surf perch in the winter and head south for corbina, striped bass and leopard sharks as waters warms. Many will include beginner clinics. Dates announced via eblast.

Off Shore Ocean Small group charter fly fishing trip to the Channel Islands.
 JANUARY
Salinas RiverA great striper fishery this time of year. Only open Wednesdays & weekends from 12/1 to 3/7. Also fish for larger surf perch.
FEBRUARY
Fly Fishing ShowJoin members at the fly fishing “toy store”. Good buys and opportunity to try before you buy. Lots of free seminars. Fun time.
MARCH
Casting ClinicsWhether you’re a beginner or an experienced caster we all benefit from this series of casting clinics put on by our 5 certified casting instructors. These clinics alone are worth the price of membership.
MARCHBanquet
Our annual banquet/fund raiser at Madonna Inn featuring special guest speakers, a silent auction, and raffle. Plan to attend.
 SPRING
Local Lakes & PondsTarget bass & pan fish at Santa Margarita, Nacimiento, etc. Also access to some private ponds. Some will include clinics including trying different water craft. Dates & location announced via eblast. 
APRIL
Pyramid Lake NVAnnual outing looking to catch that double digit Lahontan Cutthroat.
MAY / JUNE
Western SierrasAfter runoff a camping outing to the kings River in Cedar Grove & numerous small creeks in Sequoia National Park.
 JUNE
Manzanita LakeBack to back annual outings. One of the most beautiful lakes located at the based of Mt. Lassen. Camping in the campground on the lake. Fish from water craft or from shore for bows & browns. A challenging but rewarding fishery.
 JUNE
Lake AlmanorJust south of Lassen, we fish here during the height of the hex hatch for large trout and bass. You’ll need a water craft to be successful. Numerous other lakes & streams in the area.
JULY
Halibut Outing
Annually halibut follow the bait fish into the Avila beach area. This gives fly-fishers a unique opportunity to catch them. Fishing is best from a personal watercraft but they have been caught from shore.
 JULY
Kids CampOur 3 day camp. Attendees learn basics, knots, fly tying, casting, entomology, & a day of fishing on a local pond.
AUGUST
San Juan RiverAnnual outing to the Soaring Eagle Lodge. One of our most popular outings.
SEPTEMBER
Picnic at a Local WineryA great get together. Members share recent experiences and discuss plans for remainder of the year over a good wine and lunch.
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
Kern RiverTwo possibilities. Fish the 20-mile section above Kernville for trout. If enough interest can include a half day workshop with guide Guy Jeans & staff. Also fish below Isabella for small mouth bass. Due to current this one requires a watercraft with oars.
OCTOBERWestern Sierras Enjoy the fall colors and fish for trout in small rivers and streams.
NOVEMBERO’Neil Forebay The Forebay has some great opportunities for striped bass. It is best to fish in a personal watercraft or in a boat. Members usually meet one evening to dine at Woolgrowers in Los Banos. 
December Fish the SurfGet to use your current years license for the last time. Fish for a couple hours and grab breakfast. Great way to end the year.
