DESCRIPTION:Club outing weekend to the Kern River Sept 8 9 & 10\nThe motels around Kernville tend to fill up fast that time of year so if you’re planning to go you might want to make your reservation now. There are multiple motel options on the Kern.\n\n\nI’ve arranged with Guy Jeans to do a half day clinic. This is a beginners clinic and with some time on the Kern. The workshop is at 8AM on Saturday morning. The cost is $150 each and we need a minimum of 5 sign ups and a $75 deposit sent to me now that I will forward. If interested let me know and I’ll send you the additional information. (Two sign ups so far.)\n\nOther options include fishing the wild trout section above the Johnsondale bridge\, water conditions permitting going up the grade for small steam fishing\, fishing the 20 mile section between Kernville and the bridge and fishing for bass below the lake at Democrat Flat. Due to the river flow down there you will definitely want a pontoon boat\, kayak etc. something with oars when you want to head back upstream.\n\nI’ve booked a room at Sequoia Lodge and we’ll plan a get together after fishing on Saturday. Sign up with John Sanders here:\nhttps://www.delphinusschool.org/sign-up\n\n  \nBASIC FLY FISHING CAMP\, JUNE 12-14\, 2023\n\nMON-WED: 8:30 AM-2:30 PM\nENROLLMENT FEE: $400.00\nMAXIMUM CLASS SIZE:10 STUDENTS: AGES 10+\nThree-day basic fly fishing experience hosted by the Santa Lucia Fly Fishing Club. The class will include a 2-day Introduction to Freshwater Insects (entomology)\, Freshwater Fishes (ichthyology)\, Basic Fly Tying\,  Fly Casting Techniques\, and Watershed Ecology at the Creek Lands Conservation Offices in Arroyo Grande.  On the last day\, students will be transported to a private ranch near Lake Nacimiento where they will be paired with a mentor for a catch and Release fly fishing experience\, using flies they’ve tied themselves or ones supplied by their mentor. \n**All fly fishing gear will be supplied by Delphinus School of Natural History; transportation cost included in the enrollment fee.
